Asus Tranformer and Specs

I love my Asus Transformer!! I wrote some of this blog on the Asus Transfomer, so I have tested it in every conceivable way in the last few weeks since I bought it.

The market is flooded with all sorts of new tablet computers since the advent of the iPad.  iPads are nice, but they are simply too expensive for what you get (or what you don’t get, frankly).  Don’t forget, when you buy an Apple, most of what you are paying for is the glowing Logo on the back of the device.

Of course, with the advent of iPad, there have been several contenders to the tablet market.  Blackberry has had an entry as well as the ill-fated HP with Web OS.  Neither of these were contenders in the way that the Android Operating System from Google has been.

I have been using Android since it came out a couple of years ago, on the old G1 Machines.  Before that, I used Windows CE (Windows Mobile 5.0) which, for its day, was a pretty good OS in its own right.  But I have really enjoyed the flexibility of the Android OS, and have even dabbled with making some apps.

So when the tablets started coming out, I got taken (that is another article) by a manufacturer that promised more than they tablet could give.  And then, one day, I walked into Best Buy, and there is was, the Asus Transformer.  The Asus Transformer sat there with the other tablet computers, and specifically Android devices.  There the Asus Transformer was right beside the Motorola Xoom that I had been reading about for a few months.  The Xoom is a little lighter and has a higher Res screen, but what I saw next to the Asus transformer was nothing short of beautiful: a full sized clip on, Qwerty keyboard.

Sure iPad has keyboards, and you can plug USB keyboards into most devices coming out these days, but this Keyboard was MADE for the ASUS Transformer.  It easily clips right in, and then it looks like a normal laptop.  The keyboard is beautiful and easy to use too!  Like I said, I typed many of the posts on this website using it.

Together, the Asus Transformer and the keyboard are a little heavy, but not any more than a conventional laptop.  It is fast as lightening too- it came out of the box with Honeycomb, but had an instant upgrade waiting when I hooked it into the wi-fi at home.  It runs the apps beautifully, it has a great screen, and it is extremely fast.

Here is the absolute best part- aside from the fact that the Asus Transformer has HDMI ports, USB ports, a 5 MP camera in the back and a nice camera up from for Skyping with your neighbor, the best part is the battery life!  I have yet to run my Asus Transformer down with a normal day of use.  I have used it for two days straight, sometimes playing videos on it for hours through Wi-fi.  That is because the keyboard dock of the Asus Transformer has a battery in it too- and without a hard drive, the battery life seems limitless.  (Of course, nothing is limitless, right?)

The only complaint is that the audio isn’t great from the Asus Transformer.  The speakers are weak (weaker than my EVO Android phone) and the Mic isn’t anything to speak of.  However, you can hook earphones and a mic in.

I am very happy with my Asus Transformer.  If I need a tablet, I grab it and go- if I need something to type with, I make sure it is hooked into it’s keyboard dock- it is great to go to a place without havgin to worry about plugging into a socket for hours and hours!

I Love Life

Water dripping from pine needlesI wake up every morning and remind myself that I love life. Yes, I love life and you can too. It is sad that some people do not love life, and will even sarcastically question why someone like me even says I love life. Let me explain below why I love life, and I will provide you some tips to help you enjoy your life more. Before you read this article, can you imagine that it really is possible to love life right now? Do you know that people can change their brain wiring to make positive changes easily?

I love life because life is so rich with meaning. Even the ordinary things, like the color of the sky or the smell of a summer day can be rich and meaningful experiences. I love life when I slow down to enjoy the moment. This is a concept called mindfulness. Here is a basic way to be mindful. Take a moment right now to just stop and focus on your breathing. Just be aware of your breath. Then allow your awareness to expand, to include whatever else you may be seeing, hearing, smelling, etc. You may find that you never really paid attention to life before. Mindfulness, according to Jon Kabat-Zinn in his book Wherever You Go, There You Are  is kind of like being a child again, by experiencing reality like it is new again. How can you ever say I love life if you never actually experience life? Take a moment to just pay attention and you may find that your experience of life will get better. To do so is almost spiritual, which is one reason why I enjoy and I love church.

I love life because every day is a new adventure. However, I didn’t always view lie like this. I would stay inside, watch TV, and the hours would just blur together. In this state, I can tell you that I would never have said I love life. However, eventually I decided to get off of my butt and live a little, and you can too. I ran outside more often, did some of my extra work at coffee shops instead of at home, walked around my neighborhood more, and began talking to more people wherever I went. Now when I do this I love life more than ever.

I love life because I choose to love it. One way I do this is to “re-frame” situations in my life. A re-frame is taking your perspective on an event or thought and changing it to create a better perspective. So, let’s say you get laid off from your job. One frame might be to feel sorry for yourself, make your family miserable, and sit around and mope depressed for the next few months. A better frame would be to realize that you didn’t like your job anyway, and getting laid off was just the push you needed to finally have time to start that business you always wanted to own. I love life because I can re-frame any situation to be more positive.

Overall, I love life and I am not afraid to say it. I love life because life is full of possibilities. A new day is a great chance to see what happens next. So I love life because I pay attention, life is full of adventures, and I actually choose to love life. Yes, that is right, you can choose to love life right this very minute. Choosing to do this is kind of like waking up. Once you do, you will be amazed how much of life you actually missed!

I Love Music

Toddler playing pianoI love music, and most other human beings do as well. Plato said that the love of music separates humans from animals. This means that some type of music love is wired into the advanced parts of our human brains. However, I love music for a variety of reasons, specifically for the reasons why music is beneficial to humans.

Studies show that music, especially classical music, can make us smarter. I love music because learning how to play an instrument actually makes you smarter (http://www.livescience.com/1388-playing-music-smart.html). Hearing music, especially classical music, can make you smarter as well (http://www.howtolearn.com/products/mozart-effect). To get this effect as young as possible, experts are now recommending that parents play music so the baby can hear it in the womb. I love music because music makes babies smarter. Don’t stop playing music for your baby in the womb; continue playing it after the child is born and as she is growing.

I love music because music provides a soundtrack to my life. When I am in a sad mood, I love music because it provides meaning in the sadness. When I am happy, I love music because it makes me even happier. Sometimes the upbeat sound of a good song is what I want, other times, I like slower, ballads. Most people are similar. They love music , but the style they love depends on their mood. According to Brian Greene, author of the Elegant Universe, one theory of physics called String Theory holds that all matter is made of very tiny vibrating strings. This may explain why we like the sound vibrations we call music, because it connects us to the fabric of the universe.

I love music because it makes me exercise longer. Studies show that listening to music can help you work out around eight minutes longer than normal. If a person is burning 5 calories a minute, this is an extra 40 calories per workout! If you burn this three times a day, in a week you would have burned 120 calories. You don’t even have to love music to lose weight; you just have to listen to it! This amount alone is enough to help you lose around 8 pounds in a year…See why I love music?

Overall, I love music because of the benefits it provides. So next time you enjoy music, sit back and think of all the great reasons there are to love music! Tell us what music you love! Post them below and be sure to also post them to Facebook to share them with all your peeps!

I Love TV

Like most people in the world, I love TV. Adults and teens alike love TV because TV entertains and inspires us on multiple levels. There are a good variety of programs on TV, which touch us on different levels. This is why I assume you love TV, because what appears on your television make you feel good (or in the case of depressing TV shows, sad, if that is what you are shooting for). Below I will explain to you why I love TV, and cover some of the different TV genres.

I love TV that makes me laugh, such as sitcoms. Comedies, like The Simpsons, Family Guy, and The Andy Griffith Show provide me with some much-needed humor. Like you, my life can get intense and busy, and TV gives me a break! Funny shows, like I Love Lucy and Golden Girls are well-known and sought-after hilarious shows, even today. Medical doctors tell us that laughter is the best medicine, since laughing calms our bodies and boosts our immune defenses. Some doctors even tell patients to watch comedy shows, an order few patients will likely refuse! See why I love TV?

I love TV that makes me think. I particularly like shows like The Twilight Zone and documentaries like The Universe. I love TV that is complex and thought provoking. After I watch some shows, I feel smarter and more inquisitive about life. While some TV scares us or makes us feel silly, other shows make us think about deep issues in life, such as fighting, suffering, war, physics, etc. For example, after seeing Saving Private Ryan on TV, I finally understood the brutality of war, but also the power of humanity.

I love TV that keeps me informed of what is going on. I watch news shows because they give me perspective on the issues. I learn about the economy, foreign policy, politics, elections, science, health, and other recent topics and current events. Sometimes I tire of the talking heads that scream at each other, but, I like having the information available.

I love TV that helps me love others. Whether a romance or a show that addresses friendship or brotherly love, many people watch TV about love, especially ladies. Most people and I love TV that direct us to care for and find that special someone. Even though most men will not admit it, both men and women love TV that has a romantic angle.

Overall I love TV because watching it entertains me and informs me, in a way that nothing else can. Tell us what TV you love! Comment below and give your favorites a shout out, and be sure to share it on Facebook with your friends!

Television with the Twilight Zone playingLike most Americans, I love television. Americans such as I love television because television entertains and inspires us on a variety of levels. I Love Church

advent candles at churchI love church. It may not be cool to say it everywhere, but I can’t deny it. I was raised in a family that went to church services every Sunday.

As a kid and teen I didn’t even want to go to a church service. This continued through college, although I went to a Methodist and Lutheran Church services occasionally. However, now I see the benefits of church and even attend a Catholic mass weekly. Here are the five reasons why I love church and why it’s good for you and your faith.

1. Going to Church Connects Me With Other Christians

Christianity is a religion of love and spreading the Gospel. To do that, we need to connect with other believers on a regular basis. Church is the one place where we know we’ll find other people who love God (or try to) at least once a week. No church is perfect and I understand that. However, I’m not perfect, so why would I expect others to be perfect? I recognize that I’m a sinner and so are the people at church who get on my last nerve!

2. Church worship Lets Me Praise God With Others

Although I can worship God alone, there’s something very special about worshiping with other people at church services. It feels awesome knowing that hundreds or thousands of us are praising the Lord together. Once, I went to a huge cathedral in Washington DC that was filled with fellow believers. It was amazing.

Even Jesus said where two or more are gathered in his name, he is there. Jesus is saying that while we can serve God alone, there is something different and special about attending church services with other people. Perhaps there’s strength in numbers.

3. I Love Church Because of the Beauty

There are many beautiful churches all around the world and serving God in them is an awesome experience. I love everything from the medieval Gothic cathedrals to the small country churches. I believe God can be worshiped anywhere, but appropriate buildings make the church service more enjoyable. If you’ve ever been to a beautiful Gothic cathedral, you know what I mean!

4. Church Services are Great Since There Are So Many Ways to Worship God

I love church when it’s the Catholic mass, but even enjoy a simple Protestant church service too. I know that not all churches agree on their beliefs, but there’s something wonderful about the varieties of ways that we can worship God, from a solemn Orthodox liturgy to a praise and worship church service at a black Baptist church. I’ve attended various churches in my life and have found something inspiring in all of them.

5. Church Allows Me to Relax and Stress Melts Away

When I go to church, I feel relaxed and happy knowing that I’m in God’s presence. Every Sunday, church service time is my favorite because I lose a lot of my stress and can feel the love of God. I don’t have to think about the stress of my job or what’s going on with my family.

I love church and hope you can find church services where you can experience the joy I do every week.

Now you tell us why you love church in the comments below. Make sure to check “post to Facebook” to share why you love church with all your Facebook friends too!

I Love Movies

Like most Americans, I love movies. Americans such as I love movies because movies inspire us to experience a whole range of emotions. As an artistic expression, they touch us in a way that words alone cannot. Whether comedies, dramas, or love movies, I enjoy them all. This is why I am guessing you love movies, because they make you feel good (or in the case of sad movies, bad). Below I will tell you why I love movies.

I have some favorite love movies, like You’ve Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally, and Notting Hill. Dirty Dancing, The Notebook, and Titanic are other favorite love movies of mine. Women tend to love these romantic hits, while men prefer dramatic, comedy, and action moves. Most men probably set their eyes to “glaze over” when their wives and girlfriends bring home some goofy emotional love movie. In fact, most guys would probably rather have their eyes gouged out.

I love movies that make me laugh, such as the comedy movies. Comedies, such as Tommy Boy and Spaceballs provide some needed humor to our boring and stressful lives. Some doctors even suggest that laughter really is the best medicine, since laughter relaxes the body and even boosts the immune system. This is why doctors will even prescribe patients to watch comedies, a prescription very few patients will refuse! TV makes me laugh too, which is why I love television  too.

I love movies that make me think. Recently I saw the movie Inception and it reminded me of why I love movies that are deep and complex. After I watch a movie like that I feel smarter and more curious about life. After seeing a movie about Joan of Arc, The Messenger, I decided to explore religious mysticism. Movies like the Lord of the Rings series are allegories that explain realities about life. While some movies are just there to scare us or just make us feel silly, other movies actually do make us think about the deeper issues in life, such as suffering, war, parallel universes, etc. For example, after seeing Saving Private Ryan I better understood war, and Schindler’s List explored the nature of human suffering, and overcoming it.

I love movies that inspire me to greatness, in the drama and action genres. There are many movies about overcoming obstacles, handicaps, and other conditions, such as Chariots of Fire, Rudy, and Facing the Giants. After seeing movies like these, it makes me want to go out and become more successful. I mean, that short dude in Rudy was super inspiring, and he did eventually get to play in a big game, even if he did suck at the actual game of football. This is why some sports teams will show an inspirational movie before a big game. This is why even though some people say movies are a waste of time, I love movies. People say the TV is a waste of time too, but either way, I love TV still.

Overall I love movies because they entertain and inform us. Even though my love of movies has pretty much reduced me to a 300 pound friendless and dateless couch potato whose muscles have seriously atrophied, I regret nothing!!

Let us know what movies you love by posting below! Share it with your friends on Facebook and be sure to click “post to Facebook” so you can debate with your friends what the best movie really is!

I Love Money

Money with credit cards in a pileI love money, and I am guessing that if you have landed on this page, you like the green stuff too. Some people think it is bad to love money, but I believe we should reconsider our dislike of money. I bet if you had more coins and dollars right now, your life would get better.

Money can be used in bad ways and good ways. To love money could mean you are a selfish miser, or it could mean that can earn a lot of it to make your life better, and then give it away to others to make their lives better. When I say I love money, I mostly mean that I want to be smart enough to earn money so that I have the freedom to do what I want to do. A good book on how to do this is called Millionaire Fastlane. I suggest you get it today! It cuts through the BS about earning money. For me, to love money is to earn it and not have to work for some jerk boss. Money buys freedom. It buys you the ability to go on vacation whenever you want. Money buys you freedom to spend time with your kids. We are all too dependent on others (businesses, government, banks, etc), and having more money would free us from this indentured servitude.

If you don’t love money, then how will you ever earn it quickly and efficiently? I suggest that you wake up every morning and say I love money, then promise to go out and earn it, and be sure to be generous with it. Just imagine right now if you had money, what would you do? Let me share what I would do and maybe you will say I love money with me…(say it now!: I love money)

I love money, so with a load of money, I would quit my job, and enjoy my time. I would see my family and friends, and thank God that I wasn’t some big company’s slave anymore. I would spend more time with kids, and exercise more often.

I love money, so I would make sure that I was generous with it. I would give away my money to friends, family, waitresses, waiters, and others that I knew deserved it. I would reward hard work and make sure good people were blessed by my money.

Some people say that to love money is to be evil (in fact, St. Paul says that money is the root of all evil), and I agree selfishness and stinginess are wrong. However can you imagine your money love could result in more money for everybody else? This is why I think it is all right to say I love money and mean it.

Do you love money? In the comments below, share how much you love money (or not) and what you would do with money if you had  a bunch of it. Be sure to post it to Facebook to share it with all of your friends!

I Love Diamonds

Like most women in the world, I love diamonds. Ever since I was little I would always tell all my mom’s friends how much I love diamonds, especially my mom’s favorite diamond ring. I used to sneak into mother’s room and open her jewelry box, just to look at that diamond. There was something fun and mysterious about that box, about putting on her diamonds. I felt like a princess in her looking at all of her diamonds. My mom wasn’t rich, but she certainly had money to spend on the occasional gem. These pleasant childhood memories definitely explain why I am always dreaming of the perfect clear gemstone. Like you, I love diamonds for a variety of reasons which I will list below.

I love diamonds because they complete an outfit. Nothing can pop that old shirt or update a classic dress like a diamond. Simply changing the diamond can take your look from business classy to casual party perfect. I love diamonds because there is a diamond necklace or ring for every situation. There are classic diamond items that lend elegance to any outfit, and there are more contemporary pieces that are excellent for letting your taste and personality be expressed. A diamond or other gem can turn a drab and uninspiring outfit into something unique and excellent.

I love diamonds because they make excellent gifts. If you aren’t sure what to get your gal, try the diamond section of your favorite store. I love diamonds, because while some gems don’t go with everything, you can hardly go wrong with diamonds. They are classic and match everything. Just take a minute to consider the types of diamonds your lady likes. Does she prefer the simple elegant sort, or does like to be on top of trends? Pendant diamond necklaces and diamond earrings, if your girl has pierced ears, are great gifts. Yes, you can tell by now ladies that I love diamonds.

Many women who love diamonds feel they have to give up the habit when they have kids. But why would a woman say I love diamonds only to give them up when she has children? This is not true at all. There are many less expensive diamonds that have become popular recently. These pieces of diamond jewelry are also more baby friendly. So if you love diamonds don’t feel like your diamond love has to end once you have children. You never know, your “I love diamonds” attitude may lead to some great childhood memories for your own girls. I love diamonds, so I think I will go out and buy some right now!

I Love Jewelry

Like most women I know, I love jewelry. Ever since I was little I would tell anybody would listen how I love jewelry, especially my mom’s jewelry. I used to sneak into her room and open her jewelry box There was something magical about that box, about putting on her lovely jewelry. I felt like a princess in her vault looking at all her gems. Of course these excursions usually involved heading into my mothers shoe closet, and if I had time before she found me her make up. These pleasant childhood memories definitely contribute to my jewelry love. Like you, I love jewelry for a variety of reasons!

I love jewelry because it helps to complete an outfit. Nothing can pop that old shirt or update your classic dress like the jewelry you love. Simply changing the jewelry can take your look from business chic to party perfect. I love jewelry because there is something for every taste. There are classic jewelry items that lend a simple elegance to any outfit. And there are modern and contemporary pieces that are excellent for letting your tastes and personality shine.

I love jewelry because it makes an excellent gift. If you aren’t sure what to get your girl try scoping out the jewelry department. I love jewelry, especially birthstone jewelry, which is a very popular choice. Also, you can hardly go wrong with diamonds. They are classic and match everything. Just take a minute to consider what kind of jewelry your girl loves. Does she mostly wear the simple elegant sort with classic lines? Or does she tend to be on top of trends? Pendant necklaces and earring, if your girl has pierced ears, are a great jewelry gift. Yes, you can tell, that I love jewelry.

Many women who love jewelry feel they have to let it go when they have kids. But why would a woman say I love jewelry only to give it up when she has kids? But this is not true. There are many soft pieces of jewelry that have become popular recently. These pieces are more baby friendly. There is also jewelry for moms that double as teething rings for baby. So if you love jewelry don’t feel it has to take a back seat once you have children, you never know it may lead to some great childhood memories for your own kids. I love jewelry, and I think I will go and buy some right now!
